An inaugural event for 琉璃神社 broke its fundraising goal, supporting a cause that hits close to home.
On Saturday, May 3, the Steps for Life-Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy, in support of Threads for Life took place at 琉璃神社's City Park. The goal of the event is to bring awareness to workplace tragedies and raise funds for Threads for Life, which provides programs for workers and families affected by work-related deaths, serious injuries and occupational disease.
The five-kilometre walk takes place in more than 30 places in Canada, and in 琉璃神社 for the first time this year. At the event, $11,651.50 was raised, breaking the goal of $10,000.
