Head coach and GM Rylan Ferster is hard pressed to remember a much more lethargic or disappointing effort from his

A lacklustre performance in a last Saturday night in their home opener in front of 1,266 fans has made for a long week for the BCHL club.

Clearly, Ferster wants to see a vastly different Warriors鈥 squad this Saturday night when they host the Merritt Centennials.

鈥淣one of us are happy with it, we鈥檙e actually a little embarrassed鈥t was an important night, a good crowd and a good atmosphere,鈥 Ferster said of the loss to Trail. 鈥淥ur compete level wasn鈥檛 good. No disrespect to Trail, they鈥檙e a good hockey team. We didn鈥檛 get the bounces, but we didn鈥檛 really earn them. It鈥檚 been a long week licking our wounds.鈥

Still, as much as the loss stings, Ferster emphasized it鈥檚 just one game in a long season.

As for the message to his players, the Warriors鈥 head coach doesn鈥檛 believe there鈥檚 much more that needs to be said.

鈥淲e have a lot of veterans on this team, the guys know it wasn鈥檛 good, they care,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e have to play 56 more games, our season doesn鈥檛 all fall on one game, so we鈥檒l move on. We鈥檝e had good practises this week and we鈥檝e addressed the things we need to do.鈥

The Warriors (1-1) and Centennials (0-2) will face off Saturday night at Royal LePage Place at 7 p.m.

Next week, the Warriors will head to Chilliwack for the BCHL Showcase. West 琉璃神社 will play the Coquitlam Express on Thursday, followed by the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday.
