Things are still hot in Penticton and that will only ramp up with the return of the Pentastic Hot Jazz and Music Festival, kicking off with the free outreach show on Sept. 5 at 1:30  p.m.

The outreach show will be back at Penticton Secondary School, this time featuring the sound of Todd Morgan and the Emblems.

Admission to the outreach concert is free, with donations being collected to support the school's band program.

Once the concert at the school wraps up, the festival will get right into the full swing of things starting at 3 p.m. at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre's two stages and at the Elks Hall stage.

The main festival is a ticketed event, with weekend passes available and a full program available at pentasticjazz.ca.

The full weekend includes many returning favourites, such as festival stalwarts Tom Rigney and Flambeau, Groovus, Dave Bennett and the Memphis Speed Kings as well as festival newcomers like After Midnight.

Also on Sept. 5, Penticton's Dane Bateman will be performing at the Bourbon Street Stage at the convention centre at 9 p.m. in a special show with fellow Canadian musician Jojo Mason.

Todd Morgan and the Emblems will be putting on a special Beatles tribute show on Sept. 6, on the French Quarter stage at the convention centre.

The full festival runs until Sept. 7, with bands playing multiple sets across the different stages to give people the opportunity to see everyone.

If you only have to go one day, you won't want to miss the closing ceremonies, which features the performers joining the stage in a mass band to jam together.
