'Thorne' in the side: Road paving still incomplete in Peachland

'Will I be back here again and again or doing a GoFundMe?'

A long-standing concern over the incomplete paving of Thorne Road resurfaced at Peachland council's May 6 meeting, with resident Jim Carpenter looking for answers as to when the project will be finished.

"I've been coming to meetings on this subject for 10 years," Carpenter said. "I'm on my third mayor now—hopefully the last one."

Carpenter explained that after the installation of district water lines several years ago (2013), only about 400 metres of Thorne Road were paved, leaving the remaining 400 metres unfinished.

"No one knows exactly why," he said. "Just wondering if you can see any way forward, or will I be back here again and again or doing a GoFundMe—what can we do with this?"

Mayor Patrick Van Minsel assured Carpenter that the matter would be addressed promptly.

"We're going to discuss this among council and with staff, and we will get back to you and your neighbours within two weeks," Van Minsel promised.
