Dust off that lederhosen, Oktoberfest is coming to the Vernon area with two local resorts taking up the spirit of the German festival this month.
SilverStar Mountain Resort's Beer and Cider Fest returns Saturday, Sept. 6, from 1 to 6 p.m., and it's billed as an early chance to mark Oktoberfest 2025.
"Celebrate Oktoberfest early this year with Silver Star’s signature craft beer and cider event — the perfect après to an epic summer season," Destination Silver Star said on its website.
"We're bringing the celebration back to our lively mountain village and invite you to come sip some of B.C.’s finest brews, and enjoy food, a Polson Market pop-up, live music, games, and plenty of fun."
Tickets can be purchased at . Festival tickets include an official Silver Star beer and cider sampling mug, access to all participating breweries and cideries, access to local food vendors, and four beer tokens with a base ticket or 12 beer tokens with a value ticket.
Meanwhile, Vernon's Sparkling Hill Resort has a full-blown Oktoberfest extravaganza coming up.
Sparkling Hill's celebration runs Sept. 19 to 21, when locals and guests are invited to immerse themselves in the vibrant spirit of Oktoberfest.
The annual celebration will blend the lively traditions of Austria with the beauty of the Okanagan Valley, offering live music, artisan workshops, authentic fare and a bustling Oktoberfest market.
Highlights include candle-making with Roshni Wellness, autumn wreath-making with The Botanass and stein painting with a wine pairing with Boho Sketch Co.
The event also features Austrian dining at Gerni's Farmhouse and live Oktoberfest bands playing all weekend long.
"Experience the rich flavours of Austria throughout the weekend with special Oktoberfest dining at Gerni’s Farmhouse. You will be inspired by the building’s architecture," Sparkling Hill said in a press release. "Completed in October 2021, Gerni’s Farmhouse is an original 16th-century building from Weerberg, Austria that was dismantled in 2019, shipped to Canada, and rebuilt on the resort."
A special Oktoberfest brunch will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21.
The Oktoberfest market Sept. 20 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. is free to attend and features local and regional vendors offering candles, crystals and crystal jewelry, watercolour art, modern jewelry, pottery, bath and body products, and more. Food stalls will serve bratwurst and beer, deli meats and sausages, baked goods, and other seasonal treats.
“Our Oktoberfest brings the heart of Austria to the Okanagan, offering guests a vibrant, delightful, and immersive cultural experience in a truly spectacular setting,” said Rachel Charnock, group and events manager at Sparkling Hill Resort.
