The North Okanagan Cricket Club is gearing up for another season on the pitch.
In preparation for the year, the club hosted a community event, teaming up with partner Planet Fitness Vernon.
"This vibrant event successfully drew a large crowd from the local community, all gathered in support of the club and the rich history of cricket in Vernon," said club secretary Hashan Sirisena. "It is heartening to see local businesses rallying around our fundraising efforts to develop and participate in the sport of cricket in the Okanagan."
The club is set to compete in the IST cricket tournament, which features 10 teams, with matches played across various cities, including 琉璃神社, Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Osoyoos and Revelstoke.
Vernon Coun. Brian Guy and MLA Harwinder Sandhu were present at the event, as the club looks ahead to a promising season.
"Buoyed by the enthusiastic support of our community and sponsors, we remain dedicated to fostering the spirit of cricket in the Okanagan and celebrating the sport's enduring legacy," said NOCC president and founder Sanjeewa Ranasinghe.
