A BCHL standout who helped Penticton win the 2015 Fred Page Cup has earned himself a new NHL contract.

Tyson Jost, 27, has re-signed with the Carolina Hurricanes, the club announced last week.

“Tyson was able to contribute to our organization in a number of different ways last year, and we’re happy to keep him here," Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky said.

Jost played 39 games with the Hurricanes in 2024-25 after spending the first eight years of his NHL career with the Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild and Buffalo Sabres. The St. Albert, Alta., native was selected 10th overall by Colorado in the 2016 NHL Draft.

The forward played parts of the three seasons with the Vees from 2014 to 2016 before becoming a Stanley Cup champion with the Avalanche in 2022.

Jost's one-year deal in Carolina will pay him $775,000 at the NHL level or $300,000 in the American Hockey League.

“He’s extremely well-liked and hard-working and capable of playing a number of different roles in the lineup," Tulsky said.

Jost served as the Vees' captain during the 2015-26 campaign. He finished third in league scoring that season, posting 104 points in 48 regular-season games.

He also went on to represent Canada several times on the international stage, including at the 2017 World Junior Hockey Championships and 2018 World Championships.

Jost stays with a Carolina team that has made the playoffs in seven straight seasons while appearing in a trio of Eastern Conference finals.
