Chase RCMP ensured a local youth went off track after engaging in dangerous behaviour on the rails.

On July 26, a concerned parent contacted the RCMP regarding a kid behaving recklessly on the railroad tracks near a local skate park.

"The youth, who was riding an e-scooter, reportedly passed through active railway crossing arms and stood on the tracks in front of an oncoming train – apparently to provoke a reaction from nearby witnesses, including other children," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a media release. "When the parent attempted to intervene, the youth allegedly shouted and taunted the adult."

Located shortly after, the youth attempted to flee before being stopped by police. They escorted the youth home and spoke with a parent, who was advised of the seriousness of the behaviour and expected to take appropriate measures going forward.

"RCMP remind the public that trespassing on or interfering with railway tracks is extremely dangerous and illegal," Van Wilgenburg added. "Such actions not only endanger lives but may result in criminal charges or fines."
