The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) took its latest meeting on and under the road to Princeton.

On May 22, the RDOS Board of Directors held its regular meeting at the Princeton & District Community Skills Centre instead of their usual meeting place in Penticton. Princeton Mayor and RDOS board member Spencer Coyne had invited the directors to join him on a tour of Copper Mountain Mine to recognize Mining Month.

"It is important that we experience one another's communities," Coyne said. "I am happy to see the RDOS board exploring other areas of the district."

Before the meeting, a group of RDOS directors and senior staff joined Coyne, as well as Electoral Area "H" director Bob Coyne and Keremeos councillor Gary Elliot for the tour which highlighted key elements of mining operations. Copper Mountain Mine was commissioned in 2011 and has approximately 700 direct jobs. The mine site has been in operation for more than 100 years.

After the tour, the board held its meeting at 3 p.m.
