Penticton & District Search and Rescue rescued four individuals late last night.

Penticton and District Search and Rescue (PENSAR) were called out to help in a rescue effort late Wednesday.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 16, three teams were deployed to assist four stranded motorists on Clarke Lake Road, near the 201 Forest Service Road. Due to uncertain road conditions, multiple teams were tasked to assist, using different routes to increase their chances of access.

Two of the three teams were able to reach the stranded individuals, while the other team had to self-recover and turn back due to challenging terrain and tough winter conditions.

All four individuals were assessed, warmed and transported safely back to Penticton by 1:30 a.m.

"We'd like to remind the public that winter conditions still persist in the areas around the 201 Forest Service Road," PENSAR stated. "Please exercise caution, ensure you are properly equipped, and consider current conditions before heading into the backcountry."
