A 49-year-old man ended up in a ditch then RCMP cells after crashing into a ditch near Sicamous where a previous arrest warrant caught up to him.

A man found himself under arrest after "driver error" landed him in a ditch where a past crime caught up with him.

At 11:30 p.m. on June 29, Sicamous RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 1 near Prosh Frontage Road just east of Craigellachie.

Responding officers found a Volkswagen sedan in the ditch with the adult driver nearby, with two teenaged boys accompanying him.

"Police determined that the 49-year-old man had left the road and entered the ditch due to driver error," Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a media release. "The man was found to have an arrest warrant from Vancouver for a charge of Robbery."

The man was arrested and taken to RCMP cells at the Salmon Arm detachment for a bail hearing the next day, while the two teens were also taken to Salmon Arm and placed with the Ministry of Children to arrange for their care.
