Black Ball Ferry cuts sailings between Victoria, U.S. due to reduced demand

Sailings cancelled, customers with reservations offered refund, alternative sailings
blackballferry1
The MV Coho sets sail out of Victoria's Outer Harbour. Based on travel numbers, Black Ball Ferry line is delaying adding a daily sailing by two weeks.

The 90-minute ferry trip between Victoria and the U.S. will run fewer times than usual at the start of next month due to 鈥渃urrent travel demand鈥.

At a time when the Black Ball Ferry line regularly amps up trips aboard the M.V. Coho, it鈥檒l instead stick to three daily sailings until June 25. As a result, the 9:30 p.m. sailings from Port Angeles on June 12 to 25 and the 6:10 a.m. sailings from Victoria on June 13 to 26 are cancelled.

Travellers with reservations on the cancelled sailings have been notified and will be offered alternative sailings, or a full refund, the ferry company said in a news release.

鈥淒ue to current travel demand, we have made the difficult decision to adjust our June sailing schedule,鈥 Black Ball said. 鈥淲e do not take this decision lightly, and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We are deeply grateful for your continued support and understanding as we navigate through these unprecedented times.鈥

The M.V. Coho takes passengers and vehicles from its Belleville Street terminal to Port Angeles, Wash. daily in a year-round service.
