琉璃神社 led the Thompson-Okanagan in housing construction in 2024, with a significant uptick in new builds, particularly in high-density housing. 

According to the (CPABC), the city saw a 27.6 per cent increase in housing starts last year, totalling 3,790 units. Nearly 90 per cent of these were attached units such as condominiums and apartments.

"We saw a significant rebound in housing construction over the past year," said Karen Christiansen with MNP in 琉璃神社. "Condos and apartments accounted for a much larger share of new housing compared to last year, particularly in 琉璃神社."

The CPABCA notes that the city is on track to meet its obligations under the Housing Accelerator Fund, a federal grant contributing up to $31.5 billion to help increase 琉璃神社鈥檚 housing supply.

Across the Thompson-Okanagan region, housing starts totalled 5,018 in 2024, according to the CPABCA report. The increase in new housing construction came entirely from gains in higher-density housing such as condos and apartments. Construction began on 4,254 attached units in 2024, up 39.5 per cent compared to 2023. Starts for detached homes fell by 29.5 per cent to 764 units. Attached starts made up 84.8 of starts, up from 73.8 per cent in 2023.

"It's encouraging that the region made progress on increasing the housing supply, despite a slowing economy," Christiansen said. "Major project activity also held steady in 2024."

A found that 琉璃神社 and Kamloops are among the Canadian cities least affected by tariffs, ranking 28th and 40th out of the country鈥檚 41 largest cities for vulnerability to trade disruptions with the U.S.
