Canada Day celebrations were interrupted by a wildfire on Knox Mountain on July 1.
Smoke was first spotted at the top of the popular hiking and biking spot around 2 p.m. and a few hours later the blaze had grown to 6.5 hectares.
The BC Wildfire Service was called in to assist the 琉璃神社 Fire Department, with air support, and the fire was held by 6 p.m.
Evacuation orders that were issued for Magic Estates, Poplar Point, Knox Mountain, Clifton and Wilden were downgraded to alerts.
Knox Mountain and Paul鈥檚 Tomb were closed for several days.
On July 3, 琉璃神社 RCMP began investigating the human-caused fire and three days later asked for potential witnesses and video footage from July 1.
