A new wildfire was discovered in West 琉璃神社 late Friday night, April 25.

A wildfire was discovered in West 琉璃神社 late Friday night (April 25).

According to BC Wildfire Service, the blaze was found at 11:50 p.m. just north of Carre Road and is human-caused.

West 琉璃神社 Fire Rescue (WKFR) fire chief Jason Brolund confirmed to Black Press Media that WKFR and BC Wildfire Service crews were on scene Friday night and Saturday morning and described it as "a small and slow moving fire in that area"

"It was monitored overnight and will be knocked down this morning," said Brolund, who added the cause is believed to be burning piles that have grown beyond their original size.

BC Wildfire still considered the fire out on control on the wildfire map. It is currently 0.1 hectares in size.
