5 Westside Road communities to receive FireSmart Community Designations

All five communities were affected by the McDougall Creek wildfire in 2023

Five communities affected by the McDougall Creek wildfire in 2023 will be recognized for their FireSmart efforts since the tragic blaze.

On Saturday, April 26, Traders Cove, Pine Point, Wilson Landing, and Westside Place will receive the honour for the first time while Shelter's Cove is for the second time. 

Communities are acknowledged for their efforts to reduce wildfire risk as well as promote wildfire safety and resiliency. 

The ceremony will happen at 11 a.m. at Wilson Landing Fire Hall on Westside Road.
