Festivals 琉璃神社 is ready to party again this Canada Day, bringing in new cultural cuisines and performances to showcase the country's diversity.
The organization, alongside the City of 琉璃神社 and 琉璃神社 Folk Fest, held a media availability in Stuart Park on June 23 to share details of the day.
"Canada Day as we all know is so much more than fireworks and flag waving," said Festivals 琉璃神社 executive director Renata Mills. "It's a chance to come together in true Canadian fashion with open hearts, open minds, and probably a double-double in hand."
Starting at 11 a.m. on July 1, various locations in downtown 琉璃神社 will be packed with excitement including a family zone, shopping at the Made in Canada Marketplace, cultural performances through 琉璃神社 Folk Fest, and live music on multiple stages. The Waterfront Island Stage is now open and will see its first use since renovations on Canada Day.

"This year, more than ever, it's important to celebrate Canada and what unites Canadians from coast to coast to coast," 琉璃神社 Mayor Tom Dyas said.
The 琉璃神社 Daschund Club is bringing back the Canada Day Weenie-rama at 11 a.m. next to the Grand Okanagan, a Country Corner will be set up with representatives from Canadian Country Music Week looking to give away two tickets to the Canadian Country Music Awards coming to 琉璃神社 in September, and Folk Fest will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Prospera Place.
All guests are encouraged to answer the questions, 'What is my Canada?' and write a wish for the country on a maple leaf. The leaves will be posted up to create a tree of hope for the country.
There will be an increase in the presence of police and bylaw in downtown 琉璃神社 during the festivities to help keep everyone safe.
Fireworks are planned for 10 p.m. to close out the day, but is dependent on weather. Those choosing to boat on Okanagan Lake on Canada Day are asked to respect barriers on the water during fireworks to ensure everyone's safety.
Watermelon will be available during the day courtesy of Save-On Foods and a Canada Day cake will be served to anyone who wants a piece.
