Vernon Vipers goaltender Ethan David has committed to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Tigers of the NCAA for the 2023-24 season.

The Vancouver local has suited up for 76 regular season and playoff games for the Vipers. In his three year career, David has 10 shutouts, a 2.66 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage, for 34 wins.

鈥淓than came in as a first year goalie and has matured as a person and goaltender over the last three years to where he is an elite starter in the BCHL,鈥 said head coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee. 鈥淓than will be ready for the challenges of college hockey next season and we look forward to watching his continued development at that level and beyond.鈥

This season, in 18 games, the almost 20-year-old has 12 wins.

鈥淚 am very excited to be continuing my hockey career at RIT,鈥 said David. 鈥淭heir program offers everything I鈥檓 looking forward to in a university, from elite hockey to highly praised academics. I鈥檇 like to thank my family, friends, coaches and mentors for where I am today. Especially the coaching staff at RIT for allowing me to contribute to their future success and for that I am grateful.鈥

The RIT Tigers play in the NCAA Div. 1 in the AHA conference. They have made three appearances in the NCAA tournament in 2010, 2015 and 2016 and earned a spot in the Frozen Four in 2010.
