Vernon hockey player Hudson Kibblewhite is moving closer to home.
The Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League shipped Kibblewhite to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in a trade made Thursday, July 17.
The 'Canes get Kibblewhite, a 2029 first-round draft pick, a fourth-round pick in 2026, and a conditional third-round selection in 2028. The Blades receive 2006-born defenceman Tristen Doyle, and an eighth round pick in the 2026 Western Hockey League prospects draft.
Kibblewhite, 18, was a second-round (35th overall) pick in the 2022 WHL Draft by the Blades. He played in 52 games in 2024-25, scoring eight goals and eight assists for 16 points. He went pointless in four playoff games with Saskatoon
A 6-foot-1, 176-pound forward, the former captain of the Vernon Watkin Motors Mustangs Pee Wee Tier 1 team appeared in 90 games with the Blades over two seasons, collecting 22 points. Kibblewhite joined the WHL squad after scoring 81 points (31G 57A) in 56 games with the RINK Hockey Academy U18 Prep Team in 琉璃神社 in the Canadian Sports School Hockey League.
