Spallumcheen鈥檚 Ina Forrest and her B.C. championship teammates (coached by Vernon's Sharon Morrison) fell 5-2 to Quebec #1 as the Canadian Wheelchair Curling (Fours) Championships got underway Monday, April 28, in Boucherville, Que.

The host province's fans went home happy Monday, April 28.

And it had nothing to do with an election result or a National Hockey League team.

Carl Marquis' team from Magog, 90 minutes east of the Montreal suburb of Boucherville, scored three points over the final three ends to defeat B.C. #1 by a margin of 5-2 as the 2025 Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championships began in Boucherville, Que.

The B.C. #1 rink includes Spallumcheen's Ina Forrest throwing third rocks for skip Rick Robinson of Delta. The front end consists of 琉璃神社's Gerry Austgarden throwing second stones, and lead Glen McDonald of Cloverdale. The B.C. champs are coached by Vernon's Sharon Morrison.

The teams exchanged single points through the first five ends (third end was blanked). With the score tied 2-2, Marquis scored a single point with hammer in the sixth end, then stole two points in the seventh.

Robinson's team returns to the ice Tuesday, April 29, with a pair of games against Laughlin Rutt of Lower Sackville, NS at 11:30 a.m. Pacific, and a match with Doug Dean of Thunder Bay, Ont. at 4 p.m. Pacific. Dean blanked Rutt 11-0 in the opening game for both rinks Monday.

Twelve teams are competing in two pools of six at the national finals.
