The host 琉璃神社 Fripp Warehousing Rockets shutout Pacific Coast Academy 5-0 at Rutland Arena last night.
Jeremy Hite scored twice and Mathew Alcorn added a goal and two assists for the home side.
Earlier in the day, the Okanagan Rockets needed a shootout to edge Burnaby Winter Club 2-1.
Jordan Todd scored the winner in the shootout to support the superb goaltending of Cole Demers who made 29 saves.
Today, the Fripp Rockets take on the Yale Lions at 10:30 at Memorial Arena, then tonight at 7 p.m. will take on the Saskatoon Contacts, also at Memorial.
Okanagan faces the Delta Wild at 8:30 a.m. at Rutland, then meets Okanagan Academy Red at 4:30 at Memorial.
Meanwhile, Couer d'Alene Academy has withdrawn from the tournament due to a number of injuries which prevents them from icing a full lineup.
