It鈥檚 now one year until 琉璃神社 welcomes the province for the 2026 BC Summer Games.
Games alumni, along with Mayor Tom Dyas, Councillor Maxine DeHart, and baseball fans, marked the occasion before a 琉璃神社 Falcons game at Elks Stadium on July 20.
A ceremony celebrated the countdown to the games, which will see as many as 3,000 athletes, coaches, and officials descend on the city in July 2026.
It will be the fourth time 琉璃神社 has hosted the games.
鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled to welcome the games back to 琉璃神社,鈥� said Games President Devin Rubadeau. 鈥淭hese games are about more than competition. They鈥檙e about building confidence, leadership, and friendships that last far beyond the medal count.鈥�
Following speeches, Dyas and DeHart received the BC Games flag.
Set to take place over five days, the games will include 19 sports, from athletics to wrestling, including events for Special Olympics athletes, as well as para-swimming events.
