Mental health is being considered in a murder case from Westside Road in 2022.

Peter Michael Visintainer is charged with first-degree murder of Wolf-Ingo Beyer in May 2022 off Westside Road.

The trial began at the Vernon Courthouse Aug. 5, but was adjourned Aug. 22.

"Defence sought (and was granted) an adjournment of the trial for the purpose of obtaining a psychiatric report regarding whether at the time of the alleged offence the accused was not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder," said Damienne Darby, BC Prosecution Service communications counsel.

The Crown has not yet closed its case.

The next appearance is Sept. 22 to schedule a date for continuation of the trial.
