For the third year in a row, the municipality of Summerland has received an award for its financial reporting.

The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting was awarded to the District of Summerland by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its annual financial report, ending Dec. 31, 2023.

鈥淩eceiving this recognition for the third straight year speaks not only to the district鈥檚 high standards for financial reporting but also to our commitment to transparency,鈥� said Mayor Doug Holmes. 鈥淐ongratulations to our finance team for ensuring municipal financial data remains openly available and accessible.鈥�

The financial reporting program was established to encourage municipal governments in Canada to publish high-quality financial reports and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.

The annual report was judged by Canadian Review Committee members to meet the standards of the program. These include demonstrating a constructive 鈥渟pirit of full disclosure鈥� designed to communicate the municipality鈥檚 financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
