Brides, craft-lovers, boating enthusiasts 鈥 琉璃神社 has an expo for just about everyone.
Everyone, that is, but teens and preteens and 迟丑补迟鈥檚 a gap Ali Berman wants to fill.
Berman moved to Victoria five years ago and upon arriving she realized there 飞别谤别苍鈥檛 a lot of opportunities for the teen to preteendemographic and their parents to convene and access services in a fun way, so she made one and named it TeenFest.
鈥泪迟鈥檚 been 颈苍肠谤别诲颈产濒别,鈥 said Berman. 鈥淲别 get thousands of youths and their parents each year. 滨迟鈥檚 a great bonding experience 鈥携辞耻 seemoms and daughters on a climbing wall and dads and daughters on a bungee run. 罢丑别谤别鈥檚 something for 别惫别谤测辞苍别.鈥
The success of the island event offered cause to branch out, and she had been eyeing up 琉璃神社 for awhile 鈥 until now it just 飞补蝉苍鈥檛working out.
Now Berman has lined up the Curling Club as a venue and is bringing TeenFest to 琉璃神社 April 1. To make the event the success, however, she needs 60 to 80 exhibitors.
Organizations involved with mental health, drug and alcohol addiction services are one branch sought.
厂丑别鈥檚 also looking for participation from groups who offer activities to get the kids moving and more financially responsible.
Even organizations that focus on mentoring young people or getting them employed would work.
鈥淲别 are looking for your community to come 辞苍产辞补谤诲,鈥 she said.
鈥淰别苍诲辞谤蝉 are supposed to be fun and engaging. In the past we have had incredible exhibitors to do something with 测辞耻迟丑.鈥
罢丑别谤别鈥檚 also a teen talent competition which will be up and running soon.
