Registration is now open for the Giant鈥檚 Head Run, an annual race held in Summerland in early June.

This year, the run will be held on Saturday, June 7 starting at 9 a.m. The race will begin and end at the Summerland Aquatic and Fitness Centre, 13205 Kelly Ave. 

The run is one of the feature events during the Summerland Action Festival weekend. 

There is a 5.7-kilometre urban loop and a 10.3-kilometre run around the base of Giant鈥檚 Head Mountain.

鈥淕iant鈥檚 Head Run is one of Summerland鈥檚 premier family events,鈥� said Coun. Erin Trainer. 鈥淭here鈥檚 nothing like joining hundreds of your fellow Summerlanders and cheering everyone on. The energy and community spirit are the best.鈥�

There are 32 race categories and more than $2,500 in draw prizes. Race shirts will be provided to the first 450 registrants.

The Summerland Recreation Department will also host a family fun zone, supported by Par-T-Perfect and Amuzing Rentals, a pancake breakfast by donation and championed by Recope, a family photo booth and games for all ages.

These events will all be held at the parking lot of the fitness centre.

Registration can be done in person at the aquatic and fitness centre or online at . Early bird pricing is in effect until May 13. 

For this year, Summerland Recreation is also providing cheer kits for those who live along the race routes. The kits will be available for pickup in the first week of June. To register for a kit in advance, call 250-494-0447 or email recreation@summerlandreview.com.
