This year's Royal Canadian Legion poppy campaign will kick off Friday morning in 琉璃神社.
At a breakfast in the RCL Branch 26 hall on Bertram Street, legion officials will pin the first poppy of the campaign in 琉璃神社 on Mayor Colin Basran.
On Tuesday night, at the West 琉璃神社 city council meeting, George Steeves of the legion pinned the first poppy of the West 琉璃神社 campaign on Mayor Doug Findlater.
Each year the Royal Canadian Legion conducts its poppy campaign in the weeks leading up to Remembrance Day on Nov. 11 to remember and honour those who serve, have served and those who gave their lives in battle
Funds raised through the sale of poppies goes to support veterans and their families.
The campaign annually runs from the last Friday in October to Remembrance Day.
