UPDATE: Wildfire now held between Penticton and Carmi

The blaze is 0.009 hectares in size after being discovered on Canada Day

Update (11:50 a.m.)

A blaze discovered on Canada Day between Penticton and Carmi is now considered held, according to BC Wildfire Service.

Lightning was the suspected cause of the fire. It is located just west of Highway 33 and 0.009 hectares in size.

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is reporting a blaze between Penticton and Carmi, near Highway 33, on Wednesday, July 2.

The Wilkinson Creek wildfire is 0.009 hectares in size after it was discovered on Canada Day.

Lightning is the suspected cause of the blaze, according to BCWS.

There are currently no area restrictions near the fire, which is located just west of Highway 33.

In its most recent update on Wednesday at 7:45 a.m., BCWS categorized the blaze as out of control.
