Members of the public stepped into assist after what appeared to be a drugging incident involving a young woman.
At 9 p.m. on June 11, the Chase RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a boat launch in Magna Bay, with the caller concerned a female youth "may have been drugged by an older male transient."
Passersby stopped to help the girl, as the man was reportedly yelling and acting aggressively, which resulted in responding officers arresting him for public intoxication. Further investigation revealed that the female "youth" was actually in her 30s, and told police she had met the man at a local store and offered him a ride.
"The two reportedly used drugs together, after which she became ill," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a media release. "There was no evidence to suggest she had been drugged without her knowledge."
