Wildfire ignites north of Grand Forks

Blaze is currently 1.1 hectares in size and described as 'out of control'

Update: 2:30 p.m.

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has provided the Grand Forks Fire Department with ground crews and aviation resources, as a 1.1-hectare blaze continues to burn north of the community.

One helicopter and seven airtankers have responded to the Neff Creek wildfire, between Highway 3 and Granby River.

Ten BCWS firefighters are also currently on scene.

The fire is still described as "out of control," and its cause remains under investigation.

There are no current area restrictions near the blaze, BCWS said.

BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says an out-of-control wildfire sparked north of Grand Forks on Saturday, July 12.

The blaze is 1.1 hectares in size and located between Highway 3 and the Granby River, just north of Neff Creek.

BCWS said the cause of the fire is under investigation. 

There are no current area restrictions near the blaze.
