Evacuation orders issued for multiple Cariboo wildfires

Evacuation orders have been issued at the Dusty Lake and Beef Creek Trail wildfires on Friday morning, Sept. 5.

Evacuation orders have been issued at two wildfires by the Ulkatcho First Nation and the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) on Friday morning, Sept. 5.

When an evacuation order is put in place, it means residents in the affected area must leave immediately. 

At the Dusty Lake wildfire, 380 parcels have been put on evacuation order. The area covers 75,686 hectares.

"Due to immediate danger to life safety due to fire, members of the RCMP or other groups will be expediting this action. You must leave the area immediately," said the CRD. "Persons who disregard this Evacuation Order and remain in the Evacuation Order area do so at their own risk. Responders may be unable to assist anyone who remains in the Evacuation Order area."

The Dusty Lake wildfire has two evacuation orders attached to it, with the other being issued in the Charlotte Lake area. There, 125 parcels have been issued the evacuation order. This ordered area covers 32,276 hectares.

Additionally, the CRD has also issued an evacuation order for 309 parcels at the Beef Trail Creek Fire area 2. This issued area covers 53,575 hectares. 

Residents from all three orders forced to leave should proceed to Highway 20 and head east to Williams Lake. Emergency Service Centre is stationed at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex, located at 525 Proctor Street in Williams Lake.

The Dusty Lake wildfire is currently an estimated 4,494,1 hectares in size while the Beef Trail Creek Fire is 9,325.8 hectares.
