UPDATE - Wednesday, April 16:
One man has been displaced after a fire at a single-family dwelling in the 2200 block of Rosedale Avenue Tuesday, April 15.
The call came in to the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Fire Department at around 4:30 p.m., and the resident of the home was alerted to the blaze by his neighbours.
"The occupant was assisted in evacuation by the neighbours knocking on the door, informing him that they saw smoke," said fire prevention officer Martin McQuade. "He was able to get out and he seems to be OK. That's good news there."
The fire progressed quickly through the house, and there was significant damage inside the home. There was some exposure damage to a shop and RV on-site. A full-size tree in the backyard caught the firefighters' attention as it candled all the way to the top.
The frame of the house remains, and an investigation into the cause of the blaze will begin Wednesday.
Emergency social services personnel was dispatched to help the man who chose to stay with work mates.
There were 22 firefighters, four trucks, and two pick-ups battling the blaze.
