A multi-family apartment building planned for Shannon Lake has been moved forward by council.
The developer wants to build a 37-unit building on property at 2237 Shannon Lake Road, just northeast of Golf Course Drive.
The development is planned for 1.5 acres of treed property and the applicant requested a variance to increase the height of the building from three storeys to four.
Coun. Jason Friesen told his colleagues that he attended the developer鈥檚 public information session.
鈥淭hey explained very clearly the considerations they have made to keep as many trees as possible and mitigate impacts along the road even though it is a little higher,鈥� he said.
Most of council praised the developer for the project鈥檚 design as well.
鈥淭his building really does pop,鈥� said Coun. Stephen Johnston. 鈥淚 love what you鈥檝e done with the facade of the parkade at the front too.鈥�
