Volunteers rescue ATVer from Lake Country bush

The rider ran out of gas as the sun was going down

COSAR rescued a man from Wrinkly Face in Lake Country after his ATV ran out of gas on Aug. 22, 2025.

A quick evening ride turning into a rescue in Lake Country when a back country adventurer ran out of gas. 

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) was called to Wrinkly Face on Friday night, Aug. 22, to rescue a man whose ATV ran out of fuel as the sun went down. 

In a , COSAR said the man had no jacket or other back country essentials and was unable to navigated his way out in the dark. 

Despite being ill-prepared, the adventurer was able to call for assistance, remained in one spot and lit a fire for light and warmth. 

Six COSAR volunteers on ATVs were able to locate the individual by pinging his cell phone and brought him out of the bush safely.
