Just another day on the road for Walter Laskowski, who drives a 5-Tonne truck around 琉璃神社 for his commercial delivery business, when he was almost struck by a wrong-way driver.
Laskowski was travelling southbound on Leckie Road toward Highway 97, on Aug. 27 at about 2:45 p.m., when a black pickup truck came through the lights and drove into the left turning lane, almost hitting his vehicle.
A new median has been placed on in the southbound lanes of Leckie at Highway 97 as part of the Leckie Road Active Transportation Corridor (ATC), a significant infrastructure project to improve safety and accessibility for cyclists and pedestrians between Highway 97 and the Okanagan Rail Trail.
The black pick-up came through the lights on Highway 97 and into the left turning lane on Leckie, continuing northbound without slowing.
Laskowski regularly sees wrong-way or poor driving on 琉璃神社 roads, that leads to close calls with other vehicles, often documenting the incidents with his dash cam. One such video garnered more thanwith more than 4,000 likes.
