In just one day, the 琉璃神社 RCMP's Municipal Traffic Unit issued 79 violations as part of a school zone blitz.
The RCMP in conjunction with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) are taking part in Canada Road Safety Week. To kick off the week, officers patrolled 琉璃神社's school zones throughout the day on Monday, May 12 to enforce safe driving, traffic initiatives and potentially save lives.
The campaign resulted in the following violations:
- 48 school zone infractions for speeding, including one motorist travelling at 67 km/hr;
- 15 distracted driving related tickets for use of an electronic device while driving;
- 1 ticket for failure to wear a seatbelt;
- 1 ticket for tinted front side windows;
- 1 prohibited driver notice;
- 3 other Motor Vehicle Act offences;
- 9 drivers received verbal warnings;
- 1 prohibited driver was arrested for being behind the wheel and driving a motor vehicle.
