The Glenrosa Residents Association (GRA) is again shining a light on solar energy, urging West 琉璃神社 council to harness the sun's power for a more sustainable future.

At today's (May 20) council meeting at city hall GRA President Dan Goy will present an updated proposal emphasizing the benefits of solar power for the city.

"This year our main focus will be to follow up on the IPA proposal we made last year with more detail, examples, and clarity on how the city could be leveraging the benefits of solar power in West 琉璃神社," Goy said in a statement.

He also noted that the price of solar technology continues to drop, allowing local governments to discover new ways to improve operational efficiency and manage energy consumption.

鈥淭he potential revenues generated by solar power for the City of West 琉璃神社 are substantial,鈥 Goy added.

The GRA's proposal explores two primary solar installation models: Net Metering and Independent Power Production. Net Metering allows the city to offset its electricity costs by generating its own power, while Independent Power Production could enable the city to produce and sell excess energy, creating a new revenue stream.

"Timing is everything, and both current provincial and federal governments are enthusiastic supporters of renewable energy projects," Goy said. "In our opinion, West 琉璃神社 is well-positioned to become a solar energy powerhouse.鈥

Goy pointed out that the GRA's advocacy aligns with the city's strategic priorities, which include finding new revenue sources to offset future tax increases.

The meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. in council chambers.
