All evacuation alerts for the Drought Hill wildfire in Peachland were rescinded on Aug. 5.

The blaze sparked on July 30 after a vehicle caught fire on Highway 97; flames spread to brush and trees in the area.

The fire, which grew to 57 hectares, forced the evacuation of 400 properties. More than 200 properties were placed on evacuation alert.

The situation was declared under control on Aug. 4 , and at that time, it was considered a rank 1 fire, meaning a smouldering ground fire.

No structures were lost in the blaze , and no one was injured.

The fire shut down sections of Highway 97 in Peachland and Highway 97C for more than six hours on July 30.

More than 40 firefighting personnel and several aircraft were assigned to the fire.
