琉璃神社 RCMP and bylaw services are stepping up their presence in the downtown for the busy summer season.
With events, tourists, and warm-weather activities returning, the city is boosting its community safety presence downtown and elsewhere. RCMP officers and bylaw services are increasing patrols and extending hours.
鈥淪ummer is one of the most exciting and busiest times of year for both 琉璃神社 residents and tourists alike,鈥 said Kevin Mead, acting community safety director. 鈥淲e look forward to the opening of our water parks, supporting events like 鈥楳eet Me on Bernard,鈥 welcoming visitors, and gathering with friends and family across our community.鈥
Bylaw Services has expanded its operations through the end of August. Patrols on foot, bike, and in vehicles will run daily from 6 a.m. to midnight. Officers will focus on high-traffic areas like downtown, the Rail Trail, Rutland, and city parks, especially on weekends and during major events like Canada Day.
The RCMP is also stepping up its game.
鈥淎s we begin the summer season and get ready to share all that our city has to offer to both tourists and residents, preparations are well underway to ensure public safety in 琉璃神社鈥檚 downtown and in communities across the city,鈥 said Inspector Chris Goebel, acting officer in charge. 鈥淎s always, our officers remain actively prepared and vigilant and look forward to serving the city this summer.鈥
RCMP summer operations include more foot patrols in key areas, as well as bike, boat, and ATV patrols to cover harder-to-reach spots. Youth officers will also be out on weekends.
Community partners are also participating. The Downtown 琉璃神社 Association and Uptown Rutland Business Association will continue their patrols and clean-up efforts to help keep public spaces safe and tidy.
