A non-profit organization of over 1,000 members from 19 chapters province-wide is getting set to hold an annual event in Princeton and has put out a call to the public for support.

The Back Country Horsemen of BC (BCHBC) will celebrate 34 years of service with its annual Rendezvous gathering from May 17-19 at the Princeton Fairgrounds. This year's theme is History and Horses, a perfect fit for Princeton and its strong history, and the long weekend event will be full of activities and entertainment for the whole family.

An auction is held every year during the Rendezvous and has become the BCHBC's largest fundraiser and source of revenue to assist with camp, trail and education projects for all recreational riders throughout the province. They are looking for donations for this year's auction and have put a call out for help in a letter to businesses.

"Back Country Horsemen of BC is respectfully requesting your business' support through donations, such as an auction item or prize, to raise funds for upcoming projects within our province," the letter stated. "This could be a donation such as a gift card, offer of experience or an item of your choosing."

Funds have gone towards projects in Lundbom Lake, Manning Park, the historic Hudson Bay Brigade and Dewdney Trails, and many other multi-use trails and horse camps. BCHBC has contributed more than $1.5 million in valued work around the province since their incorporation in 1991.

In addition to donations, BCHBC is also looking for vendors to participate in the three-day event. To donate, register as a vendor or learn more, contact Jim McCrae at 604-309-6853 or jimmccrae1@gmail.com, or Rose Schroeder at 604-897-0700 or milkmaidrose@gmail.com.

Weekend passes are $140 and include camping, most events and a catered breakfast and dinner. Tickets are available online at bchorsemen.org until May 1. Gate day entry-only passes for adults are $20 and kids are free.
