Dreams do come true.

Peyton, a young girl in 琉璃神社, was granted a little dream come true during an Okanagan for Wishes celebration on July 22.

The event celebrated the youth committee, which had been working together since the fall of 2024 to raise funds for Make-A-Wish.

"My granddaughter had the idea to really get kids involved," said Debra Mauro, chair of the event. "Being the Make-A-Wish is for kids, my granddaughter, my healthy granddaughter, said, 'Kids should be helping kids, Nona, not just adults.'"

Mauro's granddaughter and nine other youth worked together to raise $250,000, the equivalent of about 25 wishes.

The youth committee had the pleasure of letting Peyton know her wish is being granted. She and her family are headed to Florida for some fun in the sun.

The celebrations in 琉璃神社 saw the youth committee and donor families gather at Villa Mauro for Make-A-Wish Olympics, swimming, food, and prizes.

Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children with critical illnesses, giving hope and joy to children who need it most.
