For the fifth year in a row, golfers from across the region will gather on the fairway in support of the Okanagan Similkameen Neurological Society (OSNS) Child and Youth Development Centre.
OSNS, which is based in Penticton and serves kids with development challenges in the South Okanagan and Similkameen, is hosting its "tee it up" charity golf tournament at Fairview Mountain Golf Club in Oliver on Aug. 29.
Participants will enjoy 18 holes of golf, before a dinner reception. The event will also feature prizes and a live auction.
Returning this year to the annual tournament are OSNS Challenge Holes, designed to give golfers the experiences that reflect the daily challenges faced by children receiving treatment at the Penticton centre.
Golfers, for instance, will be asked to wear oven mitts when driving their ball to simulate reduced fine motor skills or use noise-cancelling headphones with "jarring sounds" when putting to understand sensory difficulties, according to event organizers.

Through its first four years, the "Tee it Up for OSNS" tournament has raised more than $248,000.
The child centre, which opened in 1978, is located at 103-550 Carmi Ave. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, speech therapy, behaviour support, family support, and autism intervention are among the services offered.
