Sicamous' communications and legislative coordinator Campton Hancock provides proof of life for Daisy the Bear, who will soon be back out in the community after hibernating all winter.

As bears start coming out of hibernation, so too will the District of Sicamous' beloved mascot.

Last fall Daisy the Bear, carved by local chainsaw artist Mike Ormondy, went into hibernation to avoid the new housing construction taking place at her 425 Main Street home. With spring now here, the district said she will soon be back as the face of the community.

"We want to assure you that Daisy is safe and well," the district said in an operations update on its website. "And that we are planning her return to a community space sometime soon."

Daisy, who was literally rooted in the community on Main Street since 2021, was named by local kids in 2022 through a mock election in conjunction with the municipal vote taking place at that time. She has worn many hats in the community since then, from daisy chains to toques, and will soon be back to continue the tradition.
