It was a picture perfect day for the annual Vaisakhi parade in 琉璃神社 on Saturday, April 26.
With temperatures reaching 22 degrees, the Okanagan Sikh Temple parking lot was filled with thousands of people, vendors, and more to celebrate the annual Sikh celebration of spring harvest, which is a month-long holiday celebrated by the Sikh community. In some areas, it also marks the Indian Solar New Year. This year, the holiday runs from April 13 to early May.
The parade started a little after 12 p.m. on Sumac Road, and continued down Sycamore Road, Wallace Road and Ortt Road back to the temple.
It was the 12th annual celebration.
