The Friends of Okanagan Rail Trail (FORT) is set to receive a grant to help create a wayfinding kiosk.

In a press release on Tuesday, April 29, the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC (ORCBC) announces the receipts of its 2025 Outdoor Recreation Fund of BC grants, which included FORT.

The volunteer and non-profit organization is set to receive a $5,000 grant to "to install a wayfinding kiosk to guide and advise trail users."

This year, the ORCBC received more than 200 applicants and weened it down to 32 organizations who are splitting $254,950.

鈥淲e are incredibly inspired by the exceptional commitment of outdoor recreation groups across the province,鈥 said ORCBC grant program manager Tomke Augustin. 鈥淔rom trail enhancements to Indigenous interpretive signage to outdoor programs for underrepresented youth, these grants support impactful initiatives to enhance and preserve B.C.鈥檚 outdoor spaces and help make outdoor recreation accessible for all.鈥

This is the second year the ORCBC is handing out the grants.
