Born in Salmon Arm, volunteering in Clearwater, centenarian聽celebrates birthday

Gertie McKeown turns 100 years old.

Gertie McKeown celebrated a milestone only the privileged get achieve, turning 100 years old. 

A party was thrown for the centenarian Aug. 31, hosted by her children and their spouses, David and Bonnie McKeown, Marilyn and Marshall
Meroniuk and Bruce and Brenda (ne Kupsch) McKeown. Daughter Rhonda and Fran Bosley were unable to attend.

McKeown was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Salmon Arm, one of seven children and the only one born in a hospital.

She is a charter member of Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a Lifetime member of BC Association of Hospital Auxiliaries.

A number of hospital auxiliary members attended her party.

"It was wonderful to visit with Gertie and her large extended family," said auxiliary members. 

McKeown lived and worked and volunteered in Clearwater for almost 60 years. A valued and much loved member of our small community.
